PCMI Earns Microsoft Silver Certification

June 25, 2015Inside PCMI

Poland Microsoft Silver CertificationPCMI recently earned the Microsoft Silver Certification. To earn a Microsoft silver competency, PCMI successfully demonstrated expertise through rigorous exams.  Currently, PCMI is working to attain Microsoft Gold Certification as part of its commitment to providing continued education to its team members and providing the best to its clients. Earning gold certification is Microsoft’s way of giving its highest endorsement to a company who works with their tools. In order to reach gold status, PCMI will need to meet several requirements such as having a certain number of developers pass certification exams.

Our developers are actively studying and passing certification exams. We spoke to the PCMI Poland developers who recently studied diligently to pass their exams.  Pete Hudziak, Peter Smolkowicz, Paul Sorsa, and Michael Skladanowski shared their tips and advice for others who are currently studying.

All team members stated they passed both exams on the first try. The exam questions were at times difficult and tricky, however, they noted that with studying and preparation, one could pass. Peter added that the “most difficult were drag and drop questions.”

When it came to studying, Pete advised to look over the syllabus and complete sample exams. He stressed the importance of practicing with these study materials, “Take your time on the exam, and read sample questions before taking it. Even when you understand the subject very well, questions can be easy to misinterpret.” Pete also highlighted the benefits of studying from additional sources, “It’s always good to take courses, and prepare for exams. You can systematize your knowledge, improve your vocabulary, and always learn something new.”

Below are helpful links they shared:

Paul stated it would be beneficial to study from other websites for additional practice and quick overview of different areas. He recommended the following websites:

Another tip, they shared is to team up with a fellow colleague to study. Studying with a partner or a group gave an opportunity to engage in more in-depth discussion, share information and knowledge about a technical area.  Studying for the exam didn’t become boring or monotonous but instead became a positive social aspect. The team studied in partners and gave tips to those that did not take the exams yet.

Team members shared that the effort put into studying and taking the exams were well worth it.  “One main advantage of possessing a Microsoft Certification is that it improves your professional skills and you can find out more about new features which have been recently released,” shared Paul.  Michael admitted that JQuery was the most difficult for him to study since he has not worked in the area before, “It wasn’t easy for me, but I learned a lot at the same time.” Peter looks forward to complete a few more exams and hopes to become MCSD: Web Developer – a Microsoft Certified Solution Developer.

PCMI is proud of the Polish team and all of our employees working towards the Microsoft Gold Certification exams!
