HTML Element a component of a webpage such as a piece of text, an image, or a link
CSS (styling) controls how an HTML element looks and behaves (color, font-size, positioning, etc.)
Padding used to create space inside an HTML element
Margin used to create space outside an HTML element
Javascript used to make a webpage interactive (toggles, dropdown menus, pop up boxes)
Parallax scrolling effect where the background content moves at a different speed than the foreground content (we have it on the page header of our homepage)
Retina a screen with higher pixel density, it's capable of displaying images more clearly
Pagination The navigation dots below a slider

WordPress Terminology

WordPress WordPress is a content management system used to build and maintain websites.
Post posts are like pages but they have a date, usually used for news and updates
Page pages are more permanent fixtures of the site
Dashboard This is the interior part of WordPress that you see when logged in. It's where you can change and view settings, pages, plugins, etc.
Admin bar That's the thin black bar at the top of the browser window that you see when logged into WordPress.
Staging site This is where we make all changes to the site, it's clone of the live site. When we push the staging site live, it become the live site.
Plugin Plugins are apps that expand the functionality of a WordPress site. An example would be the Yoast SEO app which allows us to easily add meta titles and descriptions to pages.
Theme A theme is a group of files that dictates the appearance of a WordPress site.
